Today Bethesda Softworks announced the Prey release date for the upcoming first person sci-fi shooter. The worldwide Prey release date will be Friday May 5, 2017 and the game will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Prey is a reboot/re-imagining of the 2006 release of Prey, a sci-fi first person shooter that focused on a Native American Cherokee who is abducted by aliens. In Prey (2017) players will take on the role of Morgan Yu, a man aboard joint U.S./U.S.S.R. space station that has been overrun by hostile aliens. The game takes place in an alternative timeline in which President John F Kennedy was never assassinated and an increase presence in space during his years in office has drawn an alien force to Earth called the Typhon. Set in the year 2032, players wake aboard the Talos I, a enormous space station orbiting the moon. Players are faced with a survival situation and must use tools and weapons found on the station in order to defeat the aliens.

The 2017 Edition of Prey is being developed by Arkane Studios, the same development company behind Dishonored 2. It will not have a tie-in with the original Prey or any of the previous development performed on the now cancelled Prey 2. Prey is also not considered a sequel.

Those pre-ordering Prey (Buy From Amazon) will receive an exclusive content and bonuses including Morgan Yu’s family heirloom Margrave shotgun, thrtee Neuromodes which can be spent to acquire new abilities, two medkits, plans to create a shotgun, starter kit for building tools and weapons and a unique upgrade that allows players to preserve resources.

In addition to the Prey release date announcement, Bethesda Softworks have also released a new Prey game play trailer. This is the second Prey game play trailer released, running just under two minutes in length it shows off some of the game’s graphics and game play features that are in store.
