Bethesda Softworks today announced that Fallout 4 has generated record sales through digital downloads and retail stores with sales in excess of $750 million. These figures are quite impressive considering it has been just over three days since the game was released. However it is not very surprising either, Fallout 4 has been one of the most anticiapted of 2015 and the series has a large and dedicated fan base. According to retailers, Fallout 4 was also the most pre-ordered video game of 2015 and the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy collector’s edition was the fastest selling collector’s edition of any game, selling out within hours of release. All total Bethesda has shipped around 12 million copies of the game worldwide. It is also worth nothing special promotions such as the Free Fallout 3 promotion which have helped drive sales as well.
After winning dozens of awards at E3 2015, Fallout 4 has followed up with critical acclaim in its release as well, with an average score of 4.5 out of 5 at Metacritic.com. Areas of praise include the game’s story, the large open world that has been meticulously detailed, the overall game play and much more. Todd Howard, Fallout 4’s Game Director also thanked gamers for Fallout 4’s initial success.
